A working life, set down on paper. This 1850 agreement between Choo and M. H. Marsh preserves the terms of one man's employment at Maryland Station—a small but tangible trace of migration before the gold rush. 一段勞動生涯，留在一紙協議之中。Choo 與 M. H. Four travellers, a dog, and the belongings they carry. Donald Sydney Thistlethwayte's sketch, dated 9 December 1870, turns our attention to the journey towards Ravenswood. Machinery remains among the trees at the Palmer Goldfield Resources Reserve. This contemporary view brings the story back to the landscape visitors encounter today; it does not show the routes or camps of the 1870s. 在帕默河金礦資源保護區，鏽蝕的採礦機械仍立於林木之間。這幅當代影像把故事帶回今日可見的景觀，並非 1870 年代道路或營地的照片。

A small newspaper cutting can open a much larger story. This extract from the Gympie Times, dated 18 December 1919, is among the records gathered by Gympie Regional Libraries to trace Chinese lives in the district. 一小幅剪報，也能打開一段更大的故事。這則刊於 1919 年 12 月 18 日《Gympie Times》的報導，是金皮地區圖書館用來追尋當地華人生活的史料之一。

People gather outside Maytown's general store in the 1880s. The photograph offers a glimpse of the town before its buildings disappeared, giving a different kind of evidence to read alongside the remains in the landscape. 1880 年代，人們聚集在梅敦的一間雜貨店門前。這張照片留下了建築尚存時的市鎮面貌，讓我們在閱讀今日地景中的遺跡時，也能對照另一種歷史證據。
